The entire month of October is dedicated to breast cancer awareness – including educational campaigns and numerous events to raise funds for research to fight and hopefully cure this terrible disease. I have touched on this subject a little on here before but I want to open up again about a personal story of mine. On November 4th, 2004 my mom passed away after fighting a very short and difficult battle of stage 4 breast cancer. Being that I was a sophomore in high school at the time, it felt like there couldn’t have been a worse time to lose her (not that there is ever a good time to lose your mom). And as I sit here writing this with tears filling my eyes, I think about all of the events in my life she wasn’t apart of (getting my driver’s license, prom, high school and college graduation, my engagement, my wedding and eventually my kids) because of this awful thing called cancer.

Even though I cannot put into words how much I miss her, I am certain she is the very reason I am where I am today. The reason this blog exists. The reason for my motivation. The reason I smile too much. The reason for my “always look on the bright side” rule. The reason for my strength.

Anyway… I want to encourage you all to schedule your next mammogram and call your moms….like right now. 🙂

Now, to end this personal post with something light – I have gathered a few pink decor/furniture pieces along with some pink-inspired interiors.

Goodness what a phenomenal woman your mother must have been to have produced such a strong, loving, and beautiful daughter. You are such a blessing to me friend, and it is always so meaningful to read real stories of strength from those who have interacted with cancer in some way when it comes to remembering why the Susan G. Komer and other valiant causes are so important to support. So so much love to you talented lady — and of course you find some way to make pink look so sophisticated! You know I’m a neutrals gal, but man, that painting is pretty amazing 🙂 xoxo

You are such a great friend – thank you so very much for your sweet comment! Oh and I’m not much of a pink-loving person either but man…there are some good pieces in the furniture/decor world! love you!
