dahlias via oh, i design blogWell here we are entering my favorite season in New England, the leaves are turning, pumpkin spice lattes are being ordered (personally I am not a fan of the basic PSL…am I alone?) and we can add a few light sweaters to our wardrobe. With the new season comes new flowers and apparently I have been overlooking a beautiful flower…the dahlia. It’s not that I didn’t know they existed, I guess I just haven’t given them a chance. The gorgeous arrangement above was sent to me by Winston Flowers from their late summer collection and my oh my…I kept moving it from room to room because I couldn’t get enough of it. It’s funny how flowers can make a room feel put together!
dahlias via oh, i design blogdahlias via oh, i design blogLook at how big they get! WOW, talk about wanting a large garden to grow these bad boys. Speaking of, I got a little background from Winston Flowers about where they source their dahlias from:

“…all the dahlias in the collection are sourced from a local, family owned farm, Ferjulian Farms in Hudson, MA. The Winston family has been buying from the Ferjulian family for over two generations, close to 30 years. Ferjulian Farms grows dahlias, mint and annuals exclusively for Winston Flowers.”

How great is that? Apparently the Ferjulians deliver freshly cut dahlias in this season at least 3 times a week to the Winston locations. Meaning, customers are getting the freshest product.

Thank you to Winston Flowers for inspiring this story and sending the loveliest arrangement to my door! Local love right there.

My house will be lots of windows. I want all cool colors in my house, no warm. I have to use Benjamin Moore. Any suggestions for the kitchen, den, dining room that will be all open floor plan?
Any suggestions for master and baths as well?
