Jenna Kutcher of Photographs by Jenna Leigh via Oh I Design BlogThis gal. I am seriously overjoyed to introduce the lovely Jenna Kutcher today for the next In His/Her Space feature! I have so many things to say about her I don’t really know where to begin. She tells loves stories through her photography through her company – Photographs by Jenna Leigh, writes about the stories through her wedding blog, is the mom of the cutest pups and the wife to her love, Drew Kutcher. Jenna recently expanded her creative endeavors by adding her very own print shop! There will be more on the print shop in a following post (be on the look out because you will not want to miss it!*) Jenna and I met on Twitter I believe it was…or perhaps instagram. (Jenna?!) I honestly cannot remember because it feels like we have been friends forever and we haven’t even met in person! Crazy, right?! On a recent visit to Dallas, TX – she spent a weekend with Jessie and Anna (my WLD business partners)! We have so many ideas of all of us getting together one day and having a WLD + PBJL PARTY!!! Okay now I am just rambling… let’s see Jenna’s home now! Enjoy 🙂

1. What is your favorite space in your home? and why?
– I’ve thought a lot about this. The home that we live in is our first home and there are so many places that I love in our space. To be entirely truthful I generally work from my bed or the couch but those spaces aren’t as inspiring to me as others (but let’s be honest, they are entirely comfortable.) I think my favorite space is our dining nook, it feels new and fresh to me and it’s where I paint. We have huge windows on the entire wall so the natural light in the area is ridiculous and it’s closest to the kitchen (ahem, coffee and chocolate?) When we bought our home, I knew I wanted to invest in a harvest table and so we had a local craftsman make one for our space out of old barn wood. We decided to keep our walls the matte white and I am so thankful we did because the space feels bright and airy and it has an exceptional view of the sunset at dusk.Jenna Kutcher of Photographs by Jenna Leigh via Oh I Design Blog Jenna Kutcher of Photographs by Jenna Leigh via Oh I Design Blog
2. How do you utilize the space?
Well, I hate to admit it but we rarely eat at our table (um, does the remote control go to the left or right of the salad fork?) We generally eat on the couch but we do use our dining room on a daily basis. My husband uses the table for his work stuff and I sit next to him and paint at night. It’s our quiet time together but I absolutely love it. I also use the white wall in our dining room for shoots, which is pretty hilarious to me but it photographs brilliantly and my clients always trust my vision. We move the table out of the way and shoot on the wall so I guess you could say it’s a makeshift studio space for me too! The dining room also has a door that leads out to our deck which overlooks a giant cornfield (yes, we live in a town of 2,400 people.) The sunsets over the field and we often sit outside and enjoy the view with our pups. It’s the perfect way to unwind.Jenna Kutcher of Photographs by Jenna Leigh via Oh I Design Blog Jenna Kutcher of Photographs by Jenna Leigh via Oh I Design Blog Jenna Kutcher of Photographs by Jenna Leigh via Oh I Design Blog
3. What did the decorating process look like? (for ex: Did it kind of all come together naturally or did you create a pinterest board and plan each piece you purchased?)
Everything about our house has pretty much happened organically. For a short amount of time I thought we might be building our home and so I went on a pinning spree and drove myself nuts picking finishes, floors, and hardware. When we found our current home we were happy that it had a lot of the components we had originally wanted but it took the guess work out of things. With the decor it’s kind of an evolving process. I love the old, my husband loves the new. Our home is new and has a lot of clean and modern lines so I like to off set it with pieces of interest. I love to go thrifting, rummaging, and antique scouring in my free time. A one-of-a-kind piece will always win in my eyes and it helps to make the space feel original. I am constantly rearranging and adding things so it looks different every time Drew comes home!Jenna Kutcher of Photographs by Jenna Leigh via Oh I Design Blog Jenna Kutcher of Photographs by Jenna Leigh via Oh I Design Blog Jenna Kutcher of Photographs by Jenna Leigh via Oh I Design Blog
4. What are 3 of your go-to furniture + accessory stores when buying for your home?
I love to get inspired by places like West Elm, Crate and Barrel, Restoration Hardware, and Pottery Barn. I enjoy their pieces and love seeing what’s coming out next. I actually buy a lot of pieces like our dining room stools and chairs, our book shelf, and our rug from Target. I’ve found that their pieces are on trend and affordable! I love thrifting, so I hit up our local antiques store about once a month for different little pieces to incorporate throughout our home and IKEA has been a heaven for us as we slowly put things together from buying throw pillows to bathroom rugs and everything in between. I’m definitely a thrifty shopper but I see the value in investing in the big timeless pieces that you will keep for decades.Jenna Kutcher of Photographs by Jenna Leigh via Oh I Design Blog Jenna Kutcher of Photographs by Jenna Leigh via Oh I Design BlogJenna Kutcher of Photographs by Jenna Leigh via Oh I Design Blog
5. If you could change one thing about the space, what would it be?
This is hard! I’ve always wanted a white kitchen but our home came with a really pretty dark cherry wood. In my future home I would love to have a bright and white kitchen with a white subway tile backsplash! My husband argues that it would constantly be getting dirty but something about that fresh and clean look has always drawn me in!
We are also on the hunt for the perfect sofa that we can both stretch out on! We are using our leather furniture from our previous apartment and it just isn’t the perfect fit, this hunt is taking awhile but we want to find the right piece for our space and we know it will be an investment piece that we will hopefully have for a long time – and so the hunt continues!Jenna Kutcher of Photographs by Jenna Leigh via Oh I Design Blog Jenna Kutcher of Photographs by Jenna Leigh via Oh I Design BlogJenna Kutcher via Oh I Design Blog
